2017 Award Winners

Festival Trophies

Last night our adjudicator, Jennifer Scott-Reid announced the following award winners for the 49th Cambridge Drama Festival. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and a big thank you to every audience member who supported us during the week.

Special congratulations go to Meridian Theatre, BAWDS and Big Squirrel productions for coming third, second and first respectively.

Here’s the list of award winners from the 2017 festival:

  • BEST SOUND – Waterbeach Community Players for The Dumb Waiter
  • BEST COSTUME – Dramawise/Sky Blue Theatre for Shakespeare’s Shrew
  • BEST LIGHTING – BAWDS for Anyone Can Dance
  • BEST STAGE PRESENTATION – Meridian Theatre for Afterplay
  • BACKSTAGE AWARD – Stagefright
  • BEST NEW PLAY – Sean Baker for Anyone Can Dance
  • BEST JUNIOR GROUP – Samuel Ward Academy for Graham, the World’s Fastest Blind Runner
  • BEST CAMEO – Helen Holgate for Honey in Pavement is my Pillow
  • BEST ACTRESS UNDER 19 – Lotti Knights as Frances in What Are They Like? Swavesey Youth Theatre
  • BEST ACTOR UNDER 19 – Archie Burlton as Petruccio in Shakespeare’s Shrew, Dramawise/Sky Blue Theatre
  • BEST ACTRESS – Kattreya Scheurer-Smith as Kitty in Uke Belong To Me, Big Squirrel
  • BEST ACTOR – James Inman as Joe in Anyone Can Dance, BAWDS
  • ADJUDICATOR’S AWARD – Oli Stephens as Tree and Trombone Player in The Murder of Red Riding Hood, Stagefright
  • AUDIENCE APPRECIATION – Uke Belong To Me, Big Squirrel Productions
  • THIRD PLACE – Meridian Theatre, Afterplay
  • SECOND PLACE – BAWDS, Anyone Can Dance
  • FIRST PLACE – Big Squirrel Productions, Uke Belong To Me
