Saturday Special – Nothing great is easy

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Limitless Academy will no longer be able to take part in this years Festival. This is extremely disappointing, and has resulted in the Committee thinking long and hard about making sure the final night goes out with a bang as well as ensuring audiences get their monies worth.

We’re happy to announce that we’re welcoming local actor and writer, Chris Hudson, to come and perform his one-man epic NOTHING GREAT IS EASY in its place. This play is not a festival submission and is not eligible for any awards. But it is a great opportunity to see this play!

St. John’s Players will be performing LAST TANGO IN LITTLE GRIMLEY on Saturday as planned, as the final performance of the night. As per usual this will be followed by the adjudication and presentation of awards.

In 1875, a former sailor set out from Dover pier on a quest no-one thought possible. Twenty-two hours later, he had swum his way to fame.

“Nothing Great is Easy” is a one-man show, written and performed by Chris Hudson and directed by Rosina Piovani. It brings to life the extraordinary true-life story of Captain Matthew Webb, the first person to swim the English Channel. Follow his rivalries with fellow swimmers, the glorious triumph of his pioneering Channel swim, his increasingly futile attempts top capitalise on the resulting fame, and finally his tragic demise in a swimming stunt gone wrong. An inspiring history of athletic endeavour, and an early cautionary tale of the perils of fame.

We hope that you can come and join us for our final night to celebrate another successful Drama Festival! Tickets are available from the ADC Theatre website and are priced at £10 per session, or £30 for a season ticket.
